Tofu vs Cassava Cat Litter: A Buyer’s Comparison

Compare plant-based product formats, sample evaluation and purchasing considerations before selecting a private-label cat litter range.

Petonly buyer guides · Published October 19, 2026

1. Understand the material and product format

Petonly’s tofu litter uses pea fiber and corn starch in cylindrical pellets, while our cassava litter is based on cassava starch in a fine granule format. These descriptions identify the starting products. Confirm the complete composition and format of the exact sample you are buying.

2. Compare the experience you want your brand to offer

Review granule feel, pellet dimensions or size distribution, visible fines and handling during pouring and scooping. A pellet-based range and a fine-granule range offer different product formats. Check how each works with your proposed scoop, tray and instructions instead of assuming one is suitable for every setup.

3. Evaluate performance under matching conditions

Set the same litter depth, liquid quantity, waiting period and scoop method for both samples. Record clump formation, handling and residue left on the tray. Any absorption or dust number should come with its test method. This guide does not assign universal performance figures to either material.

4. Review formula and fragrance details

Ask for the ingredients and fragrance profile of the selected product. Confirm any claims against that formulation. Terms such as natural, biodegradable, flushable or low dust should not be treated as identical guarantees across every product that shares a base material. Product-specific evidence and intended use matter.

5. Compare the finished commercial configuration

Request quotations for the bag weights, artwork and carton arrangement you actually plan to sell. Review MOQ, packaging preparation, freight arrangements and destination details with each option. Product density and packing configuration can affect shipping calculations, so ask for a load plan for the confirmed pack rather than using a generic number.

6. Choose with a clear reference sample

Keep a record of the preferred sample, its specification and your reasons for choosing it. If both products serve distinct customer needs, discuss a two-product range rather than forcing a single winner. Use our sample checklist and private-label service to turn the comparison into a defined sourcing brief.
