1. Choose bag weight around your sales channel
Start with the amount customers are expected to buy, retailer shelf needs and how the finished pack will be handled. Ask the manufacturer to quote the exact target weight and bag configuration. Do not assume that every formula or pack weight has the same order minimum or shipping arrangement.
2. Discuss the packaging structure
Tell the supplier your preferred bag format, closure and material requirements. Ask which structures are available for the product you have selected and what needs to be tested. Petonly discusses bag materials, sizes and branding as part of its private-label cat litter service; the finished configuration is confirmed with the quotation.
3. Match storage guidance to the selected formula
Ask for the recommended storage conditions and review how the proposed bag protects and contains the actual litter. Evaluate bag closure and handling with a representative filled pack. Confirm any shelf-life statement against the selected product and packaging rather than copying an unrelated product label.
4. Prepare artwork that can be checked
Provide the brand logo, design files, required languages, barcode information if applicable, contact details and the text you intend to print. Review spelling, declared quantity, ingredients and storage and disposal instructions. Confirm your product claims before approving the artwork. Avoid unsupported statements such as guaranteed health benefits or universal flushability.
5. Confirm cartons and shipping configuration
Agree on bags per carton, carton markings, handling needs and pallet or container arrangements where applicable. Ask for dimensions and a load plan for your chosen product and finished pack. Container quantities depend on the confirmed configuration; a number from another litter type or bag size may not apply.
6. Approve the proof and commercial conditions together
Ask whether artwork, printing preparation or packaging production affects MOQ and timing. Confirm the proof, quotation and order specification together so a late design change does not leave the project unclear. For a new range, combine this checklist with our MOQ guide and private-label launch guide.
